Signing News

It`s been a busy couple of days at Palmerston following our elimination from the Premiership playoffs on Saturday. Manager Jim McIntyre met with his squad on Monday and gave new contract offers to most of the players.

At Palmerston this afternoon, Gavin Reilly, Chris Mitchell, Andy Dowie and captain Chris Higgins put pen to paper on new one year contracts.

Also signing new one year apprentice contracts were Scott Hooper, Aidan Smith and Dean Smith. Dean made the bench for the first time on Saturday up at Falkirk.

New contract offers have also been made to Danny Carmichael, Mark Kerr and Michael Paton which they are thinking over.

We will however be saying goodbye to both Calum Antell and Derek Young. The manager was quick to pay tribute to Derek Young in particular as an ?absolute professional who will be missed in the dressing room. `Desi` has been struggling with his toe injury all season but he played through the pain for a period before Christmas when we were without both Stephen McKenna and Paul Burns, delaying his operation until they were back. That says it all about him. His part-time status and living in Aberdeen made it difficult for him to work fully with the squad though and we wish him all the very best for the future, as we do Calum also. His move here didn`t really work out but he`s a good goalkeeper and we`ll hear more of him in the future?.

Derek Lyle has also agreed a new one year contract but was unable to be at Palmerston today.

Finally the manager also confirmed that we hope to bring Zander Clark back in on loan from St Johnstone next season. ?We`re well down the road in that discussion but it`s not done yet. We hope we can finalise that deal later in the summer though?.
