SLO Committee Update

We would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who turned out for our Meet the Manager night (with special guests) last Saturday. It was an very entertaining night as those at the top table; Gary Naysmith, Dougie Anderson, Steven Bowey, Warren Pearson and Paddy Atkinson shared stories from their careers. It was also great to see how much affection for the club the Geordie contingent still have. The event raised £912, with the money going towards the refurbishment of the floodlights at Palmerston.

Our next event will be on Scottish Cup Final Day, on the afternoon of 19th May. We plan to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of one of the greatest days in the Club’s history with a ‘Cup Final Day.’ We will be showing highlights of the early rounds of the Scottish Cup run along with a re-run of the 2008 final against Rangers, before sitting down to watch live coverage of this year’s Scottish Cup Final. The event will take place in the Tartan Lounge at Palmerston. We will announce full details in the very near future so please watch this space and social media. It should be a good sociable end to the season!

As I’m sure most of you are now aware, the committee, club and museum curator Iain McCartney have teamed up to open up the museum on a monthly basis. The next tour has been scheduled for Friday the 30th of March at 2pm. It’s the Good Friday holiday so hopefully some who would normally be working will be able to take advantage of being off. Tours are FREE but must be booked in advance, please contact any of the SLO committee or email [email protected] to book your space. If there is enough interest we hope to make these a more regular feature with the possibility of opening them to local schools and organisations.

We, along with the club, will enter a float in this year’s Guid Nychburris parade so will be looking for volunteers nearer the time, anyone who is willing to help please get in touch.

Our charity for this week is Jackson’s Fight. Jackson is a local teenage boy who was born with a rare genetic condition called Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome. Many fundraising events have been held already, while plans are in place for the next one; a Glitz & Glamour Ball at the Easterbrook Hall on Saturday 12th May. Tickets are available through Jackson’s Fight Charity Ball Page on Facebook where you can also find more information on the fantastic work being done for both Jackson and other less fortunate children in our local area.

This week’s playlist, chosen at random has been sent in by SLO committee member Ross Corbett. We do have enough playlist’s in now to see us through to the end of the season but we plan to continue this next season so still send them in.

There are various ways to contact us with your suggestions or any issues to have that you feel we may be able to help with: Through the link on the Official Website, Facebook, Twitter, Email or c/o the club office where we will collect any mail.

Thanks once again for your support so far, Iain, Nathan, Ross & Simon…. Mon the South
