We are delighted to welcome to Queen of the South central defender Callum Semple on loan from Sheffield United until January. Callum, who is a member of the 'Blades' Development squad is a local Sheffield lad and played in our two recent friendlies against Livingston and Hearts.
Manager Gary Naysmith said, "After impressing playing as a trialist in our last two pre-season games, I am delighted that Callum has agreed to join us on loan until January. Callum was recommended to me by my old Sheffield United team-mate Chris Morgan. Although only 19 (he turns 20 in September), Callum is a good height, strong and comfortable on the ball. He is also naturally left footed which is difficult to find in a central defender. He will add competition to our defensive ranks for the season ahead. I must also thank Sheffield United for allowing Callum to come and play in those two games so that we could have a closer look at him and for allowing him to join us for the season ahead."
Callum is travelling back to Scotland today and will hopefully be available to face Stranraer tomorrow, subject to International Clearance being received in time.
