Match Preview v Ayr Utd (A) - 26th Feb

We are back on the road tomorrow for our cinch Championship match as we take on Ayr United.

It is our second trip to Somerset Park this season, the first game in October ended in a 2 – 1 victory for the home side. Lee Connelly opened the scoring in the 68th minute but the lead only lasted four minutes as Aaron Muirhead levelled from the penalty spot. Six minutes later, James Maxwell turned the game round in favour of the Honest Men with what proved to be the winner.

However, a positive performance at Palmerston in December saw us take all three points with a comfortable 3 – 0 win. Euan East and Innes Cameron found the net in the first half with Josh Todd adding a third just after the break.

Both sides have had a change in Manager since then, with Lee Bullen replacing Jim Duffy at Somerset and Wullie Gibson taking over from Allan Johnston.

Ayr currently sit 9 points ahead of us in 8th but we do have a game in hand.

Ahead of the game Wullie said “This is a huge game for both sides. We are disappointed not to have won last week but were happy to get a point against the league leaders. Then we found out that Ayr had won away at Inverness, which makes our task even harder but we will go and have a go.

It’s been a positive week with Grant coming in to join the Management team and Paul McKay and Josh Todd signing new deals. The boys showed they are buying into what we want to do. We will have a go at teams and will fight for everything. We want to win individual battles and be hard to beat”.
