With wins over Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the league and two fantastic results against Dundee in the Scottish Cup, January has been a good month for Queens. The results haven’t gone unnoticed and we have been rewarded with a double award from Ladbrokes.
Boss Gary Naysmith has been named Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Month, while striker Stephen Dobbie’s prolific goal-scoring form which currently stands at 37 for the season has been recognised and he has been announced as Championship Player of the Month for January.
Gary and Stephen will be presented with their awards after training today.
Speaking of the awards, Gary added “Things are going really well for us just now and these awards show that our achievements are being noticed by people out-with the club which is great. It’s a personal honour for me, but I couldn’t do it all on my own so although it’s my name on the trophy, the award is for everybody at the club, especially Assistant Manager Dougie Anderson as well as the rest of my backroom staff and the players who have given me everything. Like me, Stephen is delighted with the award but is quick to remind people that he might be the one scoring the goals but it is a team game and it’s all the other players on the park who work equally as hard that help him score, so his award is for them too. But we are both delighted, it’s great for us and great for the club and long may it continue. It’s taken me two years to win one in the Championship, hopefully it won’t be another two years before I win another!”.
Congratulations from everyone at Palmerston.
