As the loan transfer window in Scotland closes today, we are delighted to welcome Innes Cameron to Queen of the South for the rest of the season. Innes will be a familiar face to regular supporters having played against us last season during loan spells with both Ayr United and Alloa Athletic. He also played against us for parent club Kilmarnock at Palmerston last month.
The 21 year old striker was a stand out for Alloa in particular last season where he was a team-mate of Lee Connelly and scored 6 times in 15 appearances. He also struck 10 time in 22 appearances for Stranraer in 2018/19. He has been with Kilmarnock since signing for them at 14 and made his first team breakthrough at 18 years old, albeit his time has mostly been spent on loan since. He also made several appearances for Scotland at u17 level.
Manager Allan Johnston said, "Innes is a forward who has caught my eye a few times in the last couple of years. He did well against us last season and will give a more physical presence to our attack, complementing the players who are here already and providing something different. He started the season in Kilmarnock's first team so I wasn't expecting him to be available but with Killie signing Callum Hendry yesterday the opportunity came up to bring Innes in and I took the chance to speak to him with Kilmarnock's permission. He was keen to come in and we were able to get a deal done. I'm looking forward to working with him."
Innes will go into the squad for Saturday's match against Dunfermline Athletic and has been allocated squad number 19.
