Welcome Oscar and Toby

Aug 25 2023 12:00

We have today signed Oscar Macintyre from Hibernian. The 18-year-old left back joins the squad on a season long loan. Oscar comes from a very sporting family with his brother Jacob also a footballer at Easter Road, while Cousin Robert is well known on the European golf tour. Oscar has featured for Hibs B in their Challenge Cup matches this season.

Also joining is 20-year-old Toby Raggett. The winger who also comes from a footballing family has signed a one-year deal. He played at Marlow last season but joined us for pre-season when he featured in our friendly against East Kilbride.

Manager Marvin Bartley said “Oscar is a highly rated full back who despite his age has impressed a lot of clubs. He has an incredible desire to do well and acquits himself well. He gives us extra defensive options. He burst on the scene at Hibs at the back end of last season and was within the travelling squad and made his debut for the first team. We didn’t expect him to be a loan option this season, but we are glad Hibs have trusted us with another one of their talented players. By bringing him into the building, also allows us to send Finlay out on loan to aid his development.”

“Toby is a pacey attacking player who can play off either wing. He spent a number of years at Reading’s Football Academy before forging his reputation in the English non -league. He has great technique and can be devastating in 1v1 situations. Last season at Marlow he averaged 2 goal contributions for every 3 games he played, and I think that shows a player who has a clear end product. He knows this is a big step up and that it will be more demanding on him physically, but he's up for the challenge."

Meanwhile, some of the reserve sides are heading out on loan until January. Peter Mendy has joined Lowland League side Gretna 2008, while four players are joining South of Scotland teams, Niall Rogerson and Charlie Watson have signed for Dalbeattie Star and Cammy Bryson and Harry McLinden have joined Upper Annandale.
