Just two minutes into the game, Annan boss Wullie Gibson picked up an early booking, with the first chance of the game coming three minutes later. Leighton McIntosh floated a free kick into the box, Jack Hannah was sliding in at the back post but couldnt direct it into the net.
Reece Lyon then gave away a free kick at the edge of the box, but the wall did its job and blocked Gibsons shot.
As the game moved from end to end, it was Oscar MacIntyre who made his way to the byline and hit a left foot effort that was well saved by Jamie Smith who knocked it out for a throw-in. Aidan Smith tried to clear but Jack Brydon intercepted before Douglas blasted over.

Midway through the half it was the home side who came closest to opening the scoring when former Queens midfielder, Josh Todd rattled the post with a powerful shot.
But as Queens hit back, Kai Kennedy played a good ball over the top looking for Dickenson, but he couldnt get his foot on it. And at the other end, Smith found Todd on the left who forced a Hannah to make a clearance.
Tommy Muir was booked for bring down Kennedy as he made the break and the resulting free kick was played in by Harry Cochrane, but Jamie Smith came out to punch clear ahead of McIntosh.

Queens were trying to create but just couldnt find the end product and in the closing stages before the interval, Brydon had a header saved and headed another just wide and Lyons shot from the centre of the box was saved before McIntosh headed wide. For Annan, Josh Dixons right foot shot flew the wrong side of the left-hand post and Kyle Fleming missed with a right foot effort from outside the box.
