Match Preview v Alloa (A) - 8th April 2023

We have the first of back-to-back away games tomorrow when we head to Alloa. With the hosts six points ahead of us in fourth place in the table it’s a crucial game for both sides.

Our results against the Wasps so far have been mixed. Despite playing them off the park in the first game at Palmerston in October, Ross McIver grabbed a late equaliser to cancel out Gavin Reilly’s opener in a 1-1 draw.

On our first visit to the Indodrill in November, Reilly scored after two minutes but we crumbled in the second half and ended up on the wrong side of a 5-1 score-line. We were back up the road in December for a SPFL Trust Trophy tie and came away with a 4-2 win thanks to goals from Josh Todd, Ciaran McKenna, and a Lee Connelly double.

However, in our last meeting at Palmerston in January, Alloa again came from behind to win 2-1. Ruari Paton scored a first half goal, only for Connor Sammon to equalise and McIver to score another late goal to take the three points.

Ahead of the match Manager, Marvin Bartley said “Last week the players showed a different side to the game and ground out the win. We are on a good run just now, unbeaten in five, nobody can take those points off us but the next game is the important one. Alloa are a well organised side who will also be looking for the three points to keep them in with a chance of the play-offs, but we will focus on ourselves and aim to evolve.”
