In our roundup away from the first team, Loan Manager, David McKellar reports that he has had a productive week.
“I was able to take in the reserve match against Livingston, which gave me the chance to watch several of the players who are currently out on loan.
Over the weekend Ben Johnstone and Euan Ross both featured and played well for Cumberland Colts in a one all draw against Stirling University. It was really pleasing for Euan who got 78 minutes under his belt following his injury.
Unfortunately, Harry McLinden’s game was postponed when Linlithgow Rose’s game at Albion Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.”
Elsewhere the Under 16s side travel to Winchburgh on the outskirts of Edinburgh on Sunday to take on Edinburgh City in a league match.
Coach Ross Newlands said “The match was a tight affair early on with neither side creating clear cut chances. The backline dealt well with the home sides more direct style of play. Queens took the lead before half time when good wide play by Lewis White saw him fouled inside the box and Lucas Jones stepped up to take the spot kick and his attempt slipped through the grasp of the keeper.”
“The second half was much the same with Queens trying to get the ball down and play. White was again fouled in the box, resulting in the City defender being sent off for a second booking. Jones stepped up for a second time and doubled the lead with a more assured finish. Two up the boys took full control of the last quarter of the game and William Salfenmoser scored a double to round off a convincing 4-0 victory”.
The Under 18s were also in action against Edinburgh City at Winchburgh and although they were level, one all at the break. The home side edged the second half and ran out 3-2 winners.
