Match Preview v Dundee United (H) - 25th Nov 24

It’s Scottish Cup action for us tomorrow as the third-round fixtures take centre stage for teams out with the topflight.

Ties don’t come much harder for us than Dundee United at Palmerston. The visitors sit top of the Championship table, four points clear of second placed Raith albeit Rovers do have a game in hand. United are still unbeaten in the league but were knocked out of the SPFL Trust Trophy last Friday by Falkirk.

Our last meeting was in January 2020 when we were both in the Championship before Covid brought the season to an end. Mark Connelly scored the only goal of the game that day at Palmerston.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Manager Mavin Bartley said “This week we start our Scottish Cup campaign, it certainly wouldn’t have been the tie that we would’ve picked but it is what we have, and we get on with it.

Dundee United are going strong in the Championship, which is no surprise with the quality of players they have. We are going to have to bring our A game because if we will be punished.

It is a one-off game against a very good side, people will see it as a free hit but not for us, we have to go into it with belief and be on top form. We owe you the fans and ourselves a 90-minute performance, that is what we will be fully focused on”.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park on a first come first served basis. There is some on street parking around the area, but please be mindful of the locals if using this option.

It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters’ buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.

People travelling should check Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any delays.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Main stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match. The Snaq café within the Arena is also open and will have a range of food/snacks on offer ahead of kick off.

For safety reasons, QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland which may result in a custodial sentence. Not only is it against the law, but it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue; this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open until kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise. Including half-time draw tickets and match day programmes.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 3 pm. At this stage of the competition there are no replays so the match will be played to a finish with 30 minutes of extra time and penalties if required.
