Match Reaction from Somerset

It finished 1-1 beside the seaside at Ayr this afternoon.

After a goal-less first half the game came more to life and the second period was a bit more exciting.

But there were no goals to cheer the fans until Scott McLaughlin grabbed the opener in 76 minutes.

Alas our lead only lasted a brief nine minutes before United`s Michael Moffat grabbed that late leveller.

However, there were no change whatsoever in the table with four draws and Livingston claiming the only three pointer with a 3-1 victory over Partick Thistle.

That`s now six games unbeaten for us but we`re still down there second bottom.

Said Gus MacPherson afterwards, "Once again we got ahead but just couldn`t hold out for those crucial last five minutes.

"Once more we took the lead away from home with Scott McLaughlin again on the score-sheet.

"Nicky Clark sent over a corner and although Scott`s first attempt was blocked he converted with his second.

"I felt we were then on top but Ayr went and grabbed that late equaliser.

"It was Mark Roberts who set it up with a sublime ball in for Michael Moffat to fire home from 10 yards out.

"We played 4-4-2 and tried to be positive and get all three points on the board, but again we were left frustrated.

"I thought we might just hold out for that elusive `clean-sheet` but it just wasn`t to be! It`s so frustrating!"

Official Attendance--1475.

Our defender Mark Campbell had now moved on to Irvine Meadow. The `big man` made 19 first team appearance so we all wish him well at his new club.
