By Train[]
All trains come into Dumfries at the same station.
There are direct trains from Glasgow and there is also the option of coming via Carlisle. Alternatively, it can sometimes be more convenient to get off the train at Lockerbie and get the bus or taxi into Dumfries.
There is a taxi rank at the station, and the ground is approximately 5 mins by car.
Walking to the ground from the station takes around 20 minutes, using the most direct route :
- Come out of the station on the west side, into the main car park (directly outside the front of the Station Hotel)
- Walk round to the right of the Station Hotel and turn right onto Lovers Walk.
- Follow Lovers walk round the corner to the traffic lights at the T-junction
- Turn left at the traffic lights onto the Edinburgh Road
- Follow this road into town and round the corner (keeping Greyfriars church on your right) down onto Buccleuch Street
- Continue down to the bottom of Buccleuch Street
- Follow the On Foot directions.
The alternative is to go through the centre of town. This will take slightly longer but has more options for refreshment along the way :
- Come out of the station on the west side, into the main car park (directly outside the front of the Station Hotel)
- Walk up the hill, to the left of the Station Hotel, to the traffic lights
- Turn right at the traffic lights onto St Marys Street
- Continue on St Marys Street, past the Cairndale Hotel and council buildings.
- Continue onto English Street and follow this up the hill into town
- From here, you can take any street, as long as you keep walking in the same direction, you will come onto the High Street
- Follow the On Foot directions.
