The spoils were shared in Greenock in a much better than the match than the conditions suggested.
Both sides struggled with the wind and rain but managed a disallowed early goal, a piece of brilliance from, debutant, Petravicius, two penalties - one mised - and a slightly controversial equaliser, while sharing four goals and the points.
The visitors had the ball in the back of the net within minutes of the game starting, but Willie Collum blew for a foul on the goal keeper.
It took just 18 minutes for the lead to come, though, with new signing Petravicius showing the kind of skill which led Allan Johnston to bring him to the club. The winger picked up the ball wide on the left and with no real imminent danger, proceeded to weave through three defenders before unleashing a swerving shot from just outside the box that somehow found its way past Ridger in the Morton goal.
There was no more scoring in the first half and, if anything the weather got worse as the second half kicking off, with Queens now kicking with the wind.
The lead lasted jsut 14 mintues when Morton were awarded the first of two penalties. Former Queens player, Bob McHugh made no mistake with the first penalty, sending Stewart the wrong way to level.
Just over 5 minutes later and McHugh was again stepping up to the penalty spot. He went for the same corner, but this time Stewart read it and saved well to keep the scores at 1-1.
Queens restored their lead on 73 mintues when Jack Hamiltons first touch hit the back of the net. Iain Wilson capitalised on a defensive mistake before driving to the byline. His cut back was perfect for the on-rushing Hamilton who guided the ball home to make it 2-1.
The lead this time was to only last 3 minutes. After some good work down the left wing, a low cross across the face of goal found Nesbitt at the far post. His shot went high towards the goal and was deemed to have crossed the line despite the best efforts of Stewart. The young keeper was furious and booked for his protests.
That ended the scoring and despite Queens mustering a flurry of shots, most of them blocked, and Morton forcing a series of corners late on, neither side could grab a winner.
