As Storm Bella thundered down on the Palmerston pitch, it was a storm in the form of Osman Sow that caused Queens most of their problems today, with the big Swede netting a hat-trick. Queens looked to find away back in the game, but despite a late goal from Connor Shields, there was to be no Christmas miracle for the Doonhamers.
Manager Allan Johnston made three changes to last weeks side, two enforced, as Stephen Dobbie and Nortei Nortey missed out through injury, while Tommy Goss was dropped to the bench. In came Joe McKee, Dan Pybus and Aidan Fitzpatrick. Both Niyah Joseph and Kieran McKechnie were missing from the matchday squad, whilst Sow, Charlie Adam and Jordan Marshall all started for the visitors despite being doubts midweek.
The first chance of the game fell to Dundee?s star player Adam, a free-kick 35-yards out struck sweetly, but not sweetly enough to beat Ferguson who parried wide.
It didn?t take long for Dundee to make some early pressure count though, as Osman Sow scored the games opening goal from the Dee?s second corner of the game. A dangerous ball in by Adam met the head of Sow, who was virtually unchallenged. The striker made no mistake in nodding into the top corner, leaving Rohan Ferguson with no chance.

Dundee maintained control of the game for the entirety of the opening 45, and were fortunate to capitalise on a defensive lapse from Gregor Buchanan to double their lead. A soft back-pass by the stand-in skipper was challenged by Ferguson and Danny Mullen. Despite Obileye blocking the first shot, Osman Sow was on hand to roll the ball into an empty net to double his and his teams tally.

It was almost three after 34 minutes when good work down the right-hand side from Christie Elliott allowed Paul McGowan to get on the end of his cross, although Ferguson saved his shot from point blank range.
The wind was beginning to play its part in the game, with Queens struggling to make any ground from Ferguson?s goal-kicks, the ball blowing back on itself every time he cleared it. Indeed, Dundee almost made in three again through Adam, assisted by the wind. A corner kick looked set to end up in the hands of Ferguson, however a sharp gust of wind turned it onto the crossbar, much to the relief of the Queens defence.
HT: Queens 0-2 Dundee
A performance with few positives to take from the opening 45 ? a big second-half performance was required. The third goal was huge, sadly for Queens, it never went their way. On 54 minutes, a low cross into the box was turned in by Osman Sow, who got away from Buchanan to tap in from literally inches out.

Goss replaced McKee after 62 minutes, before Harry Robinson made his return to action for almost two months, replacing Fitzpatrick.
With 10 minutes remaining though Queens were almost handed a lifeline and the start of an unlikely comeback. Substitute Robinson picked out Pybus in the area with a neat through ball, however, Pybus wasn?t able to guide his shot past Jack Hamilton.
After 84 minutes though Queens were awarded a lifeline. A cross from Connor Shields evaded everyone in the box, including Hamilton, the ball nestling its away into the far corner.

Queens continued pressing, searching for something to take away from the game. They were unable to though, as Dundee seen out the game in a professional manner.
FT: Queens 1-3 Dundee
A poor result from Queens, who remain at the foot of the table heading into a full card of games during the final midweek before 2021. The Doonhamers travel to Kirkcaldy on Tuesday as we take on Raith Rovers in the opening game of the second third of the season.
