FC Edinburgh were the visitors for the third time this season, Manager Marvin Bartley, made one change to the side that beat Peterhead last weekend, with Lewis Gibson starting ahead of Kieran McKechnie who took his place on the bench.
In typical Scottish tradition, the rain started just ahead of kick off which made the pitch look tricky, as both teams got to grips with the conditions, Edinburgh had more of the ball in the opening stages and although they looked a threat, they failed to do much with it. The first real chance of the game came after eight minutes when Michael Ruth made a good break before finding Gibson out wide. As the youngster cut the ball back to Harry Cochrane his right foot shot was low but wide. Gibson again delivered the ball from the wide area but this time it was missed by everyone in the middle. As the game progressed the chances became more frequent and with just over half an hour played, Jack Brydon played a terrific ball for Ruth who in turn found Gibson. The winger cut inside to make space for himself but as he looked certain to score the ball was cleared for a corner. The resulting set piece was headed over by Brydon.
At the other end Innes Murrays free kick was collected by Kevin Dabrowski. Before Brydon played another great curling ball into the path of Ruth but as he charged towards goal he was muscled out by the defenders. Robbie Mutch was in fine form and in the final minute of the first half he made two great saves to keep his side level. The first was on the line to deny Ruari Paton with the second a fantastic one handed save to push Euan Easts effort from Calvin McGrorys corner out for another.

Early in the second half Liam Fontaine picked up a booking for using an arm on Paton and was dealt further punishment as the striker got up to hit the free kick sweet as you like into the top corner, with a right foot shot from 20 yards to give Queens the lead.
Queens were on top, and Josh Todd, Paton and Hendrie combined well to get the ball to substitute Connor Murray but as he tumbled the defence cleared. Minutes later Paton played in Todd who again looked odds on to score but this time Mutch came out quickly to smoother.
As the visitors tried to get back into it, John Robertson hit a powerful strike from distance, but Dabrowski did well to push it over the bar. Queens broke from the corner and Gibson played the ball over the top for Todd, but he couldnt connect properly, and the ball went wide. Substitute Jaze Kabia was taking some rough treatment on the wing and with nine minutes of scheduled time left, Fontaine took him out the game on the touchline. The challenge was poor and earned the captain a second yellow and the resulting red card to leave the visitors with 10 men.
The game opened up but there was no further scoring, and Patons superb free kick was enough to earn Queens a much-deserved victory.
