Gus is a 'happy Chappie'

Following a couple of `clean-sheets` on the trot, Gus MacPherson was a happier man when he spoke to the `Website` this afternoon.

Said the manager, "Our defence has given us problems in the past by leaking goals, but I can`t fault the defending in those past couple of matches.

"I`ve always maintained that if we stop giving away silly goals results will come. And they have!

"So let`s hope it`s a turning point!"

"Looking back to Saturday we had four youngsters on the field at the end and they all did themselves proud.

"In particular 18-year-old Gavin Reilly who played so well and gave the Ross County defence a torrid time.

"He`s a good listener and that makes all the difference.

"I always believe in giving young players a fair chance."

Added Gus, "Right now I`m totally focused on getting the right result against Livingston at Almondvale on Saturday.

"We drew 2-2 in the league opener up there but lost 2-0 down here at Palmerston. So we owe them one!

"But they do have a good squad of players and three or four really impressive youngsters.

"They work hard together as a team and have done exceptionally well since moving back up to the First Division."

The Scottish Cup tie at Aberdeen is growing ever closer but the manager insists, "Sure, it`s a big game and I can`t stop our fans talking about it, but I myself am only thinking about Saturday`s game.

"It`s very much on the `back-burner` at the moment but we`ll cross that bridge when it comes."

Both Kevin Smith and Marc McCusker are still on the injured list and won`t feature on Saturday.
