Update from the Manager

After the disappointment of going out of a cup competition for the second time in the space of a week, Manager James Fowler was at a loss to explain what went wrong.

“It was a missed opportunity, there wasn’t much between the teams on Tuesday night but overall they probably edged it and got that all important goal.  It’s frustrating and hard to explain, we’re all gutted it was a very quiet dressing room after the game but we have to learn and get over it quickly because we’ve got a big game on Sunday”.

And that game probably doesn’t get much bigger, as Rangers visit Palmerston.  The two sides are locked on points at the top of the Championship table with the visitors edging it on goal-difference.  With three wins from three for both so far, something has to give on Sunday.

The boss believes that it’s the perfect game to get going again “we wish we didn’t have to bounce back, but obviously it’s a good game to have next, there won’t be any question about the players being up for it.  Against Rangers they know they have got to be on their game, it’s likely to be a full house so it’s a good one to get back to league business with, but we know it’s going to be tough”.

“Rangers have made a good start to the league the same as us, but it’s about our players playing to their maximum and showing how good they can be and doing that consistently.  It’s important they do that on Sunday to give Rangers a good game”.

Midfielder, Alex Harris who was cup-tied on Tuesday returns to the squad. However, Kyle Jacobs is still a doubt and a decision will be made on him closer to the game.
