Update from the Manager

Well what a difference a good result makes!

Last weekend’s win over Dumbarton was really pleasing as our home form has been patchy to say the least this season.  It was a bit of a make shift defence due to injury and illness, with many asked to play out of position, but the players were excellent and kept a clean sheet, so we couldn’t have asked for me.

Our finishing was also decent which resulted in us securing such a comfortable victory. I was pleased for not only the players who were rewarded for their hard work but for the supporters too who deserve a result like that.

But it is only one result, we won’t get carried away. There are still seven games left so we have to keep going and produce a few more performances and results before the end of the season.

We’ve said already that fourth is Raith’s to throw away and their win over St Mirren in mid-week makes it even harder for us and the chasing pack.  But we won’t give up as in the Championship you never know what can happen.

This weekend we head to Ibrox to face the league leaders, they are up there for a reason but we won’t fear going there.  The pressure is on Rangers as they count down the games to securing the title.

We’re down in numbers due to injury and suspensions but we will go there and give it our best, we’ve studied previous games against them and established what we think are their weaknesses, so hopefully we can exploit them.  We know it will be a tough afternoon, even if we had a full squad to choose from.

We will definitely be without Andy Murdoch who can’t play against his parent club and the suspended duo of Chris Higgins and Derek Lyle.  Jordon Marshall is still struggling with the injury he sustained at Paisley so he is unlikely to feature.

However, Andy Dowie has returned to training following his bout of flu and Lewis Kidd has been back training too, so hopefully they will be fit enough and available for selection.

We also have defender Scott Hopper back with us after his loan spell at Queens Park.  Scott has enjoyed his time playing regular first team football, he feels his game has improved so hopefully we can benefit for the experience he’s gained.
