We are disappointed to confirm that young winger Ryan Nelson tonight had his contract cancelled at his own request for personal reasons. Ryan spoke with manager Gary Naysmith today and explained his situation and it was agreed that he would be released before the window closed in order to give him a chance to find a club nearer to his home in the North East. Gary added, "I'm disappointed to be losing Ryan, I certainly wasn't looking to move him on but we had a chat and in fairness to the lad it was probably better to give him the chance to leave before the window closes than wait till later in the season".

Ryan arrived from Shildon AFC in the summer of 2015 but was unable to register until he turned 18 in October of that year, after FIFA delayed his registration. He made his breakthrough into the first team squad this season and has been on the bench 8 times without yet getting on the pitch. We wish him the very best of luck in his future career.
