Match Preview - Dundee United 12th August

Its round 2 of SPFL Championship action this weekend and we face our first away game with a trip to Tannadice to face Dundee United.

Both sides won their opening game of the league season and United will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing their, Betfred Cup, Dundee derby on Wednesday.

Manager, Gary Naysmith gave his thoughts ahead of Saturdays clash :

"We made a great start to the league campaign last week and we want to build on that at Tannadice.

To start with the win and to play well against Brechin City was pleasing, although our home games in the League Cup could've been better, we have to remember that we haven't lost in five ninety minutes.

We are well aware that it's going to be a tough game at United, but we will go there and be positive.  United were unlucky last season, just missing out via the play-offs and I think Ray has recruited well.  He has strengthen the squad by signing players who have the experience of the Championship, players like Sam Stanton and Fraser Fyvie. He's also brought in players like Scott McDonald, all good signings, adding to the decent squad they had already.

They made a good start to the Championship themselves last week, winning at Inverness, by all accounts they were good going forward in that one. I watched them first had against Dundee in the Cup on Wednesday so I know the threat they carry, but it's up to us to set up a team that can counter that and stand up and be counted.

It's their first home game in the league so it could be a big crowd, Tannadice has one of the best, if not the best atmosphere in the Championship, we have to go their and be brave and try to cause them problems.

Although we both have different players this time around, there wasn't much between the two sides last season.  So the players who were involved last campaign no they have nothing to fear but at the same time we will be respectful of the strength of their squad.

It will be a decent game, we will go there and test them, we know it will be tough so we need to be at least as good as we were on Saturday.  They boys carried out the game plan against Brechin perfectly, we are looking for them to do the same again this week."
