Match Preview - Montrose 7th October

Its a break from league business this weekend with a 3rd Round Tie in the IRNBRU cup, away to Montrose.

The last meeting between the two sides was in the Scottish Cup back in 2005 when we won 2-1 but the last meeting in this competition was in October 1991 when we recorded a 7-4 victory!

As always, manager, Gary Naysmith gave his thoughts ahead of the game

There is no doubt in my mind that we should have won the game last weekend. We tightened up defensively throughout the team  And that was important as we had been giving away soft goals in previous weeks. We were also happy with the number of chances we created and on another day we would have scored a couple of goals. Saturday was only the second time this season that we have drawn a blank in front of goal.

This week we have a break from the league when we travel to Montrose.

The Irn Bru cup is a tournament we want to keep progressing in, and a win would see us reach the last eight and that has to be our aim.

We haven't under estimated Montrose. We have treated this cup tie exactly the same as we would've done had it been another game in the Championship.  They are going well in League Two just now and are a well organised, hard working side.  We've already had to work hard against Airdrie and Berwick in the competition and this week match will be no easier.

We will go into the game as favourites, but we know that we will have to maintain our professionalism to get the right result.

We are without Jason Kerr for the game as he is away with Scotland Under 21s. Danny Carmichael is also still missing.
