Formartine United Match Preview

We take a break from the Championship this week as we enter the William Hill Scottish Cup for this season. It's a bit of the unknown for us as we have our first ever competitive match against Highland league side, Formartine United.

The visitors are currently third in their league with 11 wins from 16 games.

Queens boss, Gary Naysmith has been reflecting on a frustrating draw against Inverness Caledonian Thistle and looks ahead to the Cup tie.

"I am sure that just like me, you went through all the emotions last weekend. For 70 minutes we were as good as we have been all season and to be three goals ahead against a team who haven't lost for so long was terrific. But then Inverness showed why they haven't suffered defeat for a while - they kept battling and we lost our way a wee bit. It was so disappointing to concede three goals in the last 20 minutes and it felt like a defeat in the dressing room after the final whistle. It's sometimes difficult to take positives from such a result but the boys should take confidence from the way they took the game to Inverness for the first 70 minutes.

To emerge unbeaten from two games against Ayr United and Inverness is certainly no disgrace but it was so frustrating not to manage last week's game a little better.

This week, we have a break from the league to start our Scottish Cup campaign against, Paul Lawson's Formartine United. I am especially looking forward to meeting up with Paul's assistant, Russell Anderson, who is a good friend of mine. I have always had a very healthy respect for the Highland League and I can assure you that we will be taking Formartine United very seriously. Our chief scout Mark Forsyth travelled up and watched them last weekend which shows we have treated them with the same respect that we would show a championship team in terms of our preparation for the game.

They've only lost three of their 16 Highland League games so far this season and Paul and Russell will have them fired up and ready. We will have to make sure that we match their work effort and determination otherwise it will be a very difficult afternoon. This is a competition that we obviously take very seriously and we want to progress as far as we can.

Teatimes we have Alan Martin missing with a shoulder injury and Darren Brownlie is still in rehab but otherwise we will have everyone fit and available".

Section six of the BDS Stand has been set aside for Formartine Utd FC supporters, they should enter the ground via turnstile three. The bar under the Gates Stand will also be open for refreshments.

Wheelchair access for away supporters is on the south side of BDS Digital stand. There is a lay-by on King Street for vehicles to drop their passengers for flat access to the ground. Disabled parking is available on the north side of the BDS Digital Stand or at the Arena car park. The cost of entry of one personal assistant is included in the price of the accessible ticket.

There will be on-street parking restrictions, therefore it is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry's/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location.

Car parking is available in the Arena car park, alternatively there is plenty of other on & off street parking available around the stadium.

There are no known roadworks around Dumfries that would affect travel times to Palmerston Park however fans should check the Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspxfor confirmation and of any other delays.

QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e-cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

All spectators are required to abide by our policy on unacceptable behaviour.

Our great value Saturday Club for Primary School aged kids will be held at the Arena prior to the game. There is no need to book in advance, just register on arrival. The club starts at half past 12 and costs £10 or £8 for Junior Blues per child. It includes two hours of coaching and games, a packed lunch and entry into the Scottish Cup tie. Kids can then be collected at the end of the game at quarter to five.

The Scottish Cup tie has a 3pm kick off.
