ICT Match Preview

This weekend we head to Inverness Caledonian Thistle for our first game of 2019.

Both our games against John Robertson's side so far this season in the Championship have ended in draws.  It finished goal-less on our last visit to the Caledonian Stadium in September but we shared six goals at Palmerston in our last meeting.  Lyndon Dykes, Stephen Dobbie and Josh Todd all scored to give us a three goal lead with just over an hour played but they fought back with three goals in the space of ten minutes to earn a point.

We head to the Highlands on the back of a decent draw against Ayr United last weekend.

Boss Gary Naysmith speaking to the website said " I was really happy with the lads last weekend, they showed the great character and spirit that they have gave their all to grind out a result.  Ayr maybe had more of the ball but we had the better chances to score on the day.  That's three times we've played Ayr now and still have the upper hand with a win and two draws so the boys deserve a lot of credit.

They should take a lot of confidence from the way they have gone toe to toe with team this season and I'm sure if they can find a bit more belief in themselves, they will increase the quality of their game and return to the levels they showed earlier in the season and start turning draws into wins.

This weekend we are looking for a positive start to the new year when we head to a side who sit two points ahead of us in the table.  It's not a big gap so its important we maintain or overturn it.  Our performances in Inverness have generally been decent so we have nothing to fear and we know going there that a win would move us above them in the table albeit they have a game in hand.  But knowing we can move above them and put the pressure back on them to win that game is all the motivation we need.

With the January window now open, I'm delighted that we' secured Nicky Low and Barry Maguire, they just give us a few more options.  Both go straight into the squad for the weekend".
