Match Preview v Morton

We continue our busy scheduled this weekend with a home game against Morton, our third game in the space of seven days.

We have played well against Morton this season but we have only taken one point from our three meetings.  That came in a two all draw back in August when Callum Semple and Josh Todd scored to pull us level from two goals down.  In the other two games, Morton have won both with late strikes, Reece Lyon scored the winner in their two - one win in October, while Gregor Buchanan's header five minutes from time was the only goal of the game at Cappielow a few weeks ago.

With four points from six this week so far, manager Gary Naysmith has targeted another three on Saturday.

"This is our second home game of the week but I doubt that we'll have a finale similar to the one we had on Tuesday night. If you'd offered me a point from the visit of Falkirk before that game I would have been disappointed but when you're a goal down in the 96th minute that changes somewhat!

I don't think I've seen two penalties and a sending off awarded in stoppage time of any game I have ever been involved in.  I had no qualms about their penalty decision, but I was very annoyed at the referee's decision to give the free-kick that led to the incident in the first place.

I felt that all the effort we had put in against Dundee United at the weekend took its toll a wee bit in the first half hour or so on Tuesday but we grew into the game I always felt we were in control after the break. We maybe didn't create that many goalscoring opportunities but our attitude was certainly more positive in that second half.

It was important that we got something from the game to help keep the belief and togetherness that we've got at the moment and I can assure you not many, if any, teams in this league would have got a point after going behind so very late in the game.  And it would have been an injustice had we lost the game.

It was all about recovery from Wednesday morning. We've had two very tough games in a short space of time and we've got to manage our young players correctly because there are still a few games to go.

This weekend we welcome Morton, the incentive is there for the players because if we can beat them then we can leapfrog them in the table. That won't be easy, as we know, because they have beaten us twice already this season and they got a very good point against Ayr earlier this week.

Given the previous games between ourselves and Morton this season, make sure you stay to the end!

Due to our run of games, Laurie and I will have to decide if we stick with the team that are unbeaten in our last two or if we need to freshen things up.  Nicky Low and Alan Martin are still injured but we are likely to have everyone else available for selection".

Disabled parking is available on the north side of the BDS Digital Stand or at the Arena car park. The cost of entry of one personal assistant is included in the price of the accessible ticket.

There will be parking restrictions around the stadium, therefore it is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry's/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location.

Car parking is available in the Arena car park, alternatively there is plenty of other on & off street parking available around the stadium.

Supporters should note that there is an international ice hockey competition is being hosted at the ice bowl adjacent to the BDS stand. This necessitates the deployment of the tunnel. It may be that parking close to the ground is busy. Spectators should arrive in plenty of time to ensure that they find suitable parking & purchase their ticket and gain entry to the stadium for the kick off.

Turnstiles will open for admission at 2.15pm.

There are no ongoing roadworks currently around Dumfries that may affect travel times to Palmerston Park. Fans should check the Traffic Scotland website at for confirmation of any delays.

There will be separate catering outlets throughout the stadium.  The Arena café where a full menu is available will be open before kick-off and the bar under the Gates Stand will also be open for refreshments.

QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e-cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

All spectators are required to abide by our acceptable behaviour policy.

Ahead of the game we will be running our Saturday Soccer camp for Primary school kids in the Arena from 12.30.  No need to book just register on arrival.  It costs £10 per child (£8 for Junior Blues), the price includes, two hours of coaching and games on one of our indoor pitches, a packed lunch and entrance into the first team match.  Children can join other family members within the stadium or they will be supervised and can be collected at full time.

Kick off at Palmerston on Saturday is 3pm.
