Match Preview: Dundee

We are back at Palmerston tomorrow evening for our latest Championship match with Dundee the visitors.

It’s been a few seasons since we played each other in the league but our last meeting came earlier this year when we played each other in the William Hill Scottish Cup.  After a one all draw at Dens Park, Stephen Dobbie scored a hat-trick in our 3 – 0 victory on the 26th of January.

The last time we met in the league was the 2013/14 season. Queens had just been promoted and won the opening fixture 4 – 3, but Dundee went on to win the three other games that season, with two 1 – 0 wins and a 2 – 1 victory.

The visitors will have some familiar faces in the squad with Josh Todd and Jordan Marshall making the switch from us in the summer.

Ahead of the game, Queens Boss Allan Johnston said “Last week away at Inverness I felt that there wasn’t much between the two sides, especially during the first half. Inverness are on an unbeaten run and are playing with confidence, they were more clinical and that was the difference on the day.

We know we need to be better and more consistent but I’m sure that will come.

Tomorrow we take on a Dundee side who themselves haven’t made the start to the campaign that they would have hoped for. It’s something a bit different with it being on the television under the floodlights so we want to go out and put on a performance and get the three points.

We beat Morton in our last game in Dumfries, so we are looking to make it back to back home wins and to again make Palmerston a tough place to come”.

For fans attending the game – please remember it is a five past 7 kick off.

Supporters attending Palmerston should note:

Sections six and seven of the BDS Digital (East) Stand has been set aside for away supporters. They should enter the stadium via turnstiles three and four.

The turnstiles will be open for ALL spectator entry at 6.20pm.

Wheelchair access for away supporters is on the south side of BDS Digital stand. There is a lay-by on King Street for vehicles to drop their passengers for flat access to the ground. Disabled parking is available on the north side of the BDS Digital Stand or at the Arena car park. The cost of entry of one personal assistant is included in the price of the ticket.

Car parking is available in the Queen of the South Arena car park next to the ground. There will be some on street parking restrictions but there is plenty of other on and off street parking available around the ground.

Please note that due to the game being televised on BBC Scotland, a portion of the car park will be taken up by outside broadcast trucks, reducing spaces.

Supporters buses will NOT be allowed to park in the Arena car park, therefore it is requested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains Road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location.

There are no on-going roadworks currently around Dumfries that may affect travel times to Palmerston Park. Fans should check the Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any delays.

The annual fairground attractions are in town, located on the Whitesands.  This may cause congestion on surrounding roads which in turn could cause delays during rush-hour but they should be cleared in time for kick off.

Catering outlets and toilets will be available for use throughout the ground. Toilet and catering facilities are also available in the Arena prior to kick off. The café within the Arena offers a full menu and the bar under the Gates Stand will also be open for refreshments.

QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue; this includes e- cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. Any person deemed to be under the influence of alcohol will be denied entry to the ground. This will be strictly enforced.

All spectators are required to abide by our acceptable behaviour policy and your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

With the game taking place on a Friday evening – there will be no pre-match kids club this week.

The club shop will be open for business prior to kick off, where you can buy a full range of merchandise.

Match day programmes will also be on sale – priced £3.

And you can purchase our 50/50 half-time draw tickets for a pound each.

Kick-off – 7.05pm
