Match Preview v Alloa Athletic

This weekend we begin the second quarter of the season away at Alloa.

During the first round of games, Alan Trouten’s second half goal settled the game in Dumfries at the end of August in favour of the Wasps, so we will be going all out to overturn that result.

Looking ahead to the match, Manager Allan Johnston said “Last week’s four – nil win over the league leaders was a terrific performance.  It is always good to score goals but it had everything, we defended well, attacked set pieces correctly and created a lot of chances.

Performances haven’t been far away in the majority of games but the players are playing with confidence now and they are working incredibly hard for each other.  We have shown we can compete with the best so the challenge is to make sure we keep the same high standard every week.

We are defending well and we will always hurt teams with the players that we’ve got going forward. They deserve a lot of credit and quiet rightly have the belief that they can win games.

We go into the second quarter of the season looking to pick up more points than we did in the first.  Like every game in the Championship, it won’t be easy away at Alloa, they have shown they are a good side and we know it will be tough on a tight park.  There is nothing much between any of the teams in the division; you just need to look at the league table to see that, it is incredibly tight.

Consistency is the key in the Championship and making sure that you turn draws into wins. We showed quality last weekend, we just need to do the same again this week”.
