We are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Rohan Ferguson is the latest to join the first team squad at Palmerston. 22 year old Rohan is a graduate of Airdrie's Club Academy system and played over 40 times for them before joining Motherwell on a three year deal in 2017. First team action was hard to come by at Fir Park as he served as understudy to Trevor Carson but last season he went out on loan to Linfield in Northern Ireland. Rohan played every game as they won the Premiership title.
Manager Allan Johnston said, "I'm delighted to be able to add Rohan to the squad. We obviously need to have a two goalkeepers in the senior group and Rohan is as good as any that were available. He's still young at 22 but has plenty of experience, having been first choice for a year at Airdrie as a teenager and then playing all season in a successful title winning team in Northern Ireland last year. When I heard Motherwell had released him I was interested straight away. I am pleased we've been able to agree a deal and we are looking forward to working with him."
Rohan himself added, "I'm looking forward to getting back playing football again. It's been a long period of uncertainty for all footballers so it's great we can finally get started again and I can't wait to pull on a Queens top and get out on the pitch. I've trained with the lads for the last couple of days and it's a good group. I've already settled in. Queen of the South is a good club and the facilities here at Palmerston are excellent for training. The Championship is a difficult and challenging league but I think we'll do well. Even in a couple of days I can see we have some really good players here. I loved my time at Linfield last season but I'm also glad to be back in Scotland and nearer my friends and family."
Rohan has signed a one year contract.
