Following the cancellation of a friendly with Dumbarton earlier this week Queens managed to arrange a fixture with Stranraer at Palmerston this evening. It was a fine competitive match with both teams lining up as close to full strength as they were able at the moment. In the absence of Dobbie and McKee who will get another run out with the Reserve squad this weekend, Queens started in a 4-3-3 of:
1. Rohan Ferguson, 2 James Maxwell, 3 Wullie Gibson, 4 Gregor Buchanan, 5 Ayo Obileye, 6 Rhys McCabe, 7 Harry Robinson, 8 Dan Pybus, 9 Euan East, 10 Aidan Fitzpatrick, 11 Connor Shields.
It was the visitors who were more up for the contest early on and took the lead after just 4 minute when Calum Elliot heaed home from close range at a corner. It took Queens around 20 minutes to get a foothold in the game but gradually they began to take control and an equaliser arrived before the half hour when Gibson's excellent cross was headed goalward by Fitzpatrick. Greg Fleming blocked the headed effort but Euan East was on hand to tap in the rebound. Before the interval young Dom McMahon came on to replace the injured Dan Pybus whilst there was a lengthy stoppage for Stranraer to replace a defender who fell awkwardly.
The second half was much more one way traffic with Queens taking the lead through Aidan Fitzpatrick's fine finish following a good passing move. With about 20 minutes remaining Euan East headed home Robinson's free kick to the back post to make it 3-1 and the scoring was completed in the closing minutes when Connor Shields intercepted a passback and rounded Stranraer's sub keeper to tap in a 4th.
