On the eve of the new season getting underway, joining the squad is 29-year-old Alex Cooper. Alex who is the son of former Scotland Internationalist Neale Cooper has signed a one-year deal as he joins from Sligo Rovers.
Starting his football, he spent four years as part of Liverpool Academy and has played football in Scotland with Ross County, Falkirk, St Mirren and Inverness. The left sided player spent two years in the USL with Fresno FC before heading back over the Atlantic to Ireland. Following in his Father’s footsteps he was capped for Scotland at Under 17.
Mostly playing as a left back in recent seasons, the Highlander is also comfortable playing further up the park on the left wing.
Manager, Allan Johnston said “Alex has a great left foot and is an experienced player who can play in numerous positions. With his ability to play in defence and midfield that gives us options which is exactly what we need within the squad”.
Subject to International clearance Alex will be in the squad for tomorrow’s cup tie against Queens Park.
He has been allocated squad number 3.
