Our latest signing is central defender Stuart Morrison. Stuart came through the ranks of Dunfermline Athletic’s youth system, via a stint in the Fife Elite Football Academy, before signing for the Pars professionally in 2016. He made his first team bow during a loan spell at Edinburgh City in 2017/18 where he played regularly. Returning to his parent club Stuart was part of the first team pool at East End Park across the next two seasons, making a handful of appearances before joining Queen’s Park on loan in January 2020. Covid cut short his season of course but he had done enough to impress at Hampden and signed for the Spiders on a permanent basis in the summer of 2020, playing regularly until he sustained an injury last December and lost his place in the side.
Released by Queen’s Park following their promotion to the Championship Wullie Gibson has moved quickly to secure the signature of the centre back who worked with assistant manager Grant Murray in his time at Hampden. Stuart was also capped by Scotland u19’s in his time at Dunfermline and has agreed a one year contract at Palmerston.
Manager Wullie Gibson said, “I’m pleased to get Stuart sorted out. He is a ball playing centre half standing at just over 6ft, and again brings physical presence to our back line. At 23 he is at a good age and his experience in this league is also good to have around the group.”
Stuart Morrison added, “I’m delighted to sign for the QoS and get my future sorted out early. Working with Grant before and seeing the plans for the club really enticed me to sign. We want to be challenging at the top end of the table and the thought of success is a real driver for myself. I’m raring to go and meet up with the boys when pre-season begins.”
