Max is Our New No 1

Our 3rd signing of the day is goalkeeper Max Currie who recently left Airdrie. Max has been the Diamonds first choice goalkeeper through the last two seasons, both of which have seen them reach the playoff final. After the disappointment of failing to get promoted again he was after a new challenge. He came through the ranks at Motherwell but had 5 years at Stranraer in between times, establishing himself eventually as their No 1 before moving on to Airdrie. During his time with the Stair Park side he could count one Wullie Gibson as a team mate for a season. He too has agreed a one year contract at Palmerston.

The Manager added, “I’ve known Max since he was a young man sitting on Stranraer’s bench and I’ve tracked his progress with interest since. He established himself as their number 1 then moved on to two excellent seasons at Airdrie. When Josh let us know he was moving on Max was immediately one of the first names I thought of to replace him and I’m delighted to get the deal done”.

Max added, “As the Gaffer said, I’ve known him since I first broke into senior football and when the opportunity came up to sign for him I didn’t need asked twice. I’ve had a good two years at Airdrie which I enjoyed but I felt the time was right for a new challenge. I’m looking forward to getting started with QoS.”
