Match Preview v Falkirk (A) - 27th August 2022

We are back on the road this weekend as we head to the Falkirk Stadium for our league one fixture.

It’s been over three years since we last faced the Bairns as we haven’t faced each other since the four matches in the Championship in 2018/19 season. On our first visit in August 2018, Stephen Dobbie scored a hat-trick in our 3-0 victory. We also picked up a win in October that year when Michael Doyle and Jordan Marshall scored to make it 2-0. However, our last visit to the Falkirk Stadium ended in defeat as they reversed the first result with goals from Davis Keillor-Dunn, William Edjenguele and Deimantas Petraviscius.

In our last game on the 2nd of April 2019, both sides picked up a point in a dramatic end. Keiller-Dunn thought he had won the game for the visitors with a 92nd minute penalty, only for Dobbie to equalise from the spot in the 96th.

Ahead of the trip, Queens boss, Wullie Gibson said “After a slow start away at Peterhead the boys took a grip of the game and ran out deserved 4 – 1 winners. I have always maintained that we are a good footballing side and we showed that last weekend. We were looking for characters within the team who can turn games and the players stood up to the challenge. I’m a positive person and there were a lot of positive to take from that game.

Hopefully we can build on not only the result but the performance when we face Falkirk this weekend. Falkirk have found it difficult to get back out of the division but will be one of the favourites again this season. It’s a big open pitch at the Falkirk Stadium so that should suit our style and like always we have to go with the right attitude and go out fired up from the start”.
