Match Preview v FC Edinburgh - 4th Feb 2023

We are back at Palmerston tomorrow for the visit of FC Edinburgh.

Having already played two league games and a cup tie so far, this will be our fourth meeting of the season. Back in September we had back-to-back games at Palmerston, in the league we were comfortable 4-1 winners as Ruari Paton scored a double, with our other goals coming from Euan East and Euan Bange. Ryan Shanley scored a consolation penalty late on. Five days later we again scored four, Connor Murray, Dave McKay, Michael Ruth and Gavin Reilly grabbing the goals in our 4-0 cup win.

Then in November, Lewis Gibson opened the scoring before Paton and Connelly added further goals to give us a 3-0 victory at Meadowbank.

The visitors have been going well in the league and sit third in the table with 38 points, nine points better off than ourselves.

Ahead of the game, Manager Marvin Bartley said “I was really pleased for everyone connected to the club with the win at Peterhead last week. We performed well and levels were high, we did give away a penalty that we shouldn’t have but the reaction was important, and the boys responded to going a goal down to come back to score three good goals and pick up a great result.

This week we face a side that we’ve got a good record against but that goes for nothing. This is a new game so we can’t look back. They’re ahead of us in the table on merit so we need to exploit their weaknesses and nullify their strengths to make sure that the gap doesn’t get any bigger.

I will be my first home game in charge so one I’m really looking forward to”.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters’ buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.

People travelling should check Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any delays.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Alpha Solway stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match. The Snaq café with the Arena is also now open and will have a range of snacks on offer ahead of kick off.

For safety reasons, QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland which may result in a custodial sentence. Not only is it against the law, but it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open until kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise. Including half-time draw tickets and match day programmes.

Our Saturday Club for kids will also make a return tomorrow in the QOS Arena. For  £10, kids can come along ahead of the game for a coaching session and lunch before taking in the first team in action.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 3 pm.
