Match Preview v Hamilton (H) - 3rd February 2024

Tomorrow, we welcome former captain, John Rankin, and his Hamilton Accies side to Palmerston.

Our last encounter at Palmerston ended in a win for the visitors after Jackson Longridge scored with six minutes remaining to claim the three points. They had taken an early lead through Euan Smith but that was cancelled out by Harry Cochrane to make it one each at the interval.

Accies also picked up a win when we travelled to New Douglas Park in December. We were well off it that day and went down 5-0. Kevin O’Hara scored a double, along with strikes from Lewis Smith, Regan Tumilty, and Connor Murray.

Results have been better since and we have moved up to fifth place in the table, where we sit just outside the play-offs on goal difference. Tomorrow’s visitors are in second, eleven points behind leaders Falkirk with a game in hand.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Manager Mavin Bartley said “The way we defended against Cove last week was first class, but we were also clinical at the other end. To go up to there and come away with three points and a clean sheet is very pleasing.

We won’t get carried away it’s only three points, but it is three points against a team above us and it keeps us moving in the right direction and closer to where we want to be.

This week we welcome Hamilton, a team that have been up the top end of the table all season. They’re up there because they’ve been consistent, but we are in the same league, and we want to keep our own momentum going”.
