The opening 15 minutes were fairly even with neither side creating much in the way of clear cut chances. On 16 minutes, the visitors were gifted a corner when Gibsons slack pass allowed Nouble a shot at goal that Brynn tipped past the post.
The resulting corner was played to the back post by, ex-Queens man, Nicky Low and met by O`Brien who headed home to make it 0-1 Arbroath.

The next 15 minutes, again, so little in the way of clear chances but did see the home side come more into the game and enjoy more possession.
That possession should have been turned into, at least, an equaliser when Junior beat his man out wide and crossed only for Paton to head over with Gaston stranded at the front post.
Queens then had another two chances to score. First Cochrane returned a cleared corner back into the box. McKay managed to stay onside and with the whole goal to aim for could only steer his header wide of the far post.

Next, it was Juniors turn to pass up a great chance to equalise. He did really well to hold off the defender and let a high ball run through him. The ball took an age to come down but he got a shot away but, like McKay, couldnt find the inside of the far post.
Those misses meant the visitors held on to their lead until the end of the half - HALF TIME 0-1
Arbroath should have extended their lead 5 minutes after the break when Nouble broke at pace from a Queens corner. The impressive striker played a perfect pass into McKenna who had busted a gut to catch up but the goal-scoring midfielder could only loop his shot over the bar.
Queens were very much on the front foot at this point and it looked like the game had turned in their favour on 57 minutes when Arbroath went down to 10 men. Gold saw red for bringing down Connelly 30 yards from goal, who was past him and clear through on goal. The resulting free kick, though, came to nothing.

The home side upped the pressure from then on but struggled to break down a resolute Arbroath defence. Paton was next to test Gaston but his overhead kick went straight into the experienced keepers arms.
Fitzpatrick made his second Queens debut, coming on in 66 minutes to replace Nditi who had been asked to do a man-marking job on McKenna in midfield. Like the rest of his team mates the winger struggled to make an impact going forward.
Queens were camped in the Arbroath half now but too often the final ball or decision was poor.

Arboath were coping comfortably at the back and almost extended their lead after 75 minutes when Nouble waltzed through the defence but couldnt slide the ball past Brynn who saved well with this feet. The big striker caused problems all day with his strength, pace and close control. A superb all round performance from the on-loan Livingston forward.
He wasnt to be denied a well deserved goal for long. Low made a run down the left before putting in an inch perfect cross onto his centre forwards head and, unlike the Queens forwards, Nouble made no mistake, powering a header past Brynn off the underside of the bar on 78 minutes for a 0-2 Arbroath lead.

Queens huffed and puffed for the final 10 minutes, enjoying plenty of possession without creating any chances of note and the visitors saw the game out relatively comfortably. FULL TIME 0-2
