After a convincing performance away at Montrose last week, Manager Marvin Bartley fielded the same starting eleven for the visit of Edinburgh City.
Queens didnt quite make the same start as they did at Links Park as they took nine minutes before their first real effort on target. Lewis Gibson crossed from the right, but it was just too far out of reach for Lee Connelly to get a shot away. The front man did chase it down and tried to curl it into the top corner but couldnt get enough on it and it flew wide.
They did open the scoring four minutes later when Kyle McClelland played a great long ball over the top for Gavin Reilly who was in behind the City defence to lift the ball over Andy McNeil into the bottom corner.
The striker almost doubled the lead within a minute when he did well to take the ball round the keeper, but his shot was blocked for a corner.
Queens suffered another injury blew after twenty minutes when Harry Cochrane had to leave the field with a knee problem. But it didnt really disrupt the flow and midway through the first half, McNeil had to parry away a Connelly free kick. And as Gibson played in the corner, Connelly had a double effort blocked and a penalty claim turned down before Kieran McKechnie shot just wide of the post.
With ten minutes of the first half remaining, Gibson showed great perseverance to win and keep the ball before Reilly collected. As he looked to add to his tally, he knocked the ball to the side, but his right foot effort crashed back off the post.
Two minutes later, a fantastic through ball by Connelly for McKechnie set up another chance for Queens but as the winger took the ball in his left foot shot was inches wide of the upright.
The visitors had rarely challenged but Robbie Leitch hit a good right good effort towards goal that Harry Stone saved well.
As half time approached Gwong Rwad Peter was lucky to escape with just a yellow card following a terrible challenge on Gibson on the touchline. The youngster recovered to curl the free kick off the junction of the crossbar and post.
HALF TIME: Queens 1 Edinburgh City 0
Two minutes after the restart Connelly played in Reilly but his effort was wide. In control of the game, some good play by Reilly and Connelly set up Gibson but he fired over.
The missed chances proved costly a minute later, ten minutes after the break when Robbie Mahon looked to be offside but got in ahead of Efe Ambrose to lob the ball over Stone to pull Edinburgh level.
It was a setback for Queens, but they responded quickly, and Gibson showed some tricky footwork to cut inside before firing a left foot shot into the top corner to restore Queens lead.
The capital side who are currently going through a financial crisis fielded several youngsters, but they dug deep and looked to stay in the game with a point to prove. Queens were resilient and in injury time McKechnie played the ball along the line but neither Reilly nor Harvey Walker could connect.
But with the final touch of the game, Craig McGuffie took a touch to knock it past the keeper to round off the scoring and secure the three points.
