There were two changes to the lineup for the visit to Hamilton. With Joel Mumbongo unavailable to face his parent club, he was replaced up top by Kyle Doherty in an enforced change. While Lewis Gibson dropped to the bench and Kieran McKechnie took his place in the starting eleven.
In the opening minutes, Lee Connelly tried to get into the box but was judged to have used his arm to control the ball. From there it was the home side who went on to have the first real chance of the game, when Reghan Tumilty had a shot from the right-hand side, but it was off target.
Minutes later, a cross was deflected into the path of Kevin OHara at the back post, but the flag was up for offside.
It was the hosts who were looking lively and as Lewis Smith cut inside from the far side of the pitch, he manged to get a left foot shot away but Harry Stone made a terrific save.
Queens were in their own half a fair bit but on the break McKechnie picked out Connelly and as he got the break of the ball off Jackson Longridge, it eventually reached Harry Cochrane outside the box, but the home defence were quick to close ranks and leave little space.
As play moved back up to the other end, Jamie Barjonas hit a low right foot effort from 19 yards, but Stone got a strong hand to it to turn it out for a corner. As it was delivered back into the box, the keeper this time punched clear before collecting the resulting corner.
The home side did have the ball in the net after 23 minutes when Queens failed to cut out the cross from Tumilty and OHara fired the ball past Stone, but the flag was again up for offside.
Midway through the half, Josh Todd nodded the ball back out to Connelly who in turn played in through for Doherty, but his shot lacked power.
At this stage, Accies were the better team and as Ben Williamson slipped the ball into the path off OHara, Stone showed some brave goalkeeping when he raced out to take the ball from the frontmans feet.
Queens started to get more into the game in the final stages of the first half and as Longridge brought McKechnie down at the edge of the box, Queens won the free kick. It was at a tight angle so instead of having a go at goal, Connelly played it across the 12-yard mark, but Doherty couldnt connect.
Connellys shot was then blocked before Barjonas fired wide.
Two minutes from the break, Tumilty found himself inside the six-yard box but under pressure he hooked his effort wide of the post. And right on half time, OHara got the better of Paul McKay but as he tried to fire it across Stone, he couldnt get any curl on the ball, and it flew wide.

Six minutes into the second half, Doherty pounced when Dylan McGowan slipped to break forward and as the ball was played wide to Connelly, he crossed but Cammy Logan couldnt stretch high enough to get his head on the end of it.
Queens showed more attack after the interval and the home players were arguing amongst themselves when Doherty picked out McKechnie and his right foot effort was turned out for a corner.
The game was held up when Kyle McClelland suffered an injury and had to be stretched off the field. As it restarted Accies broke, and Euan Henderson finished but the flag was up long before he had the shot.
Queens continued to show more fight and took the game to Accies. Cochrane won a free kick right on the edge of the box and as Connelly struck it, Dean Lyness had to get down low to save.
Accies still looked dangerous on the break and Jake Hastie rattled the crossbar, before they were reduced to ten men. Barjonas picking up two yellow cards in as many minutes to earn himself an early bath with seven minutes of the ninety left.
Queens looked to open Accies up with some passing football and Lyness saved from Doherty. In the final minutes of normal time Cochrane hit a right foot effort from the edge of the box that was deflected for a corner. As the ball came in it and cleared it fell to McKechnie, but he was way too high with his attempt.
The visitors were really piling on the pressure and looking for a winner, Doherty burst to the by-line but as he crossed the ball was cleared. As they broke again, Craig McGuffie played it wide to Gavin Reilly who found Cochrane at the edge of the box, but the keeper collected.
And deep into added on time, McKechnie tried a cross, but it was too close to the keeper.
