I just love it at Palmerston says Chris

Chris Mitchell is loving his football at Queens and no wonder!

The 24-year-old has played in practically every match and can`t believe just how well we`ve done.

Says the former Falkirk, Ayr United and Bradford City player, "I was clubless for a while and it`s not a nice feeling, but Allan Johnston snapped me up and I couldn`t be happier.

"We`re right up there at the top of the table and have had some great battles against Hibs, Rangers, Dundee United and Kilmarnock.

"Unfortunately we lost narrowly against both `Killie` and the Tannadice side but we`re still in the final of the Ramsdens Cup against Partick Thistle to be played later this season."

And Chris himself admits, "I just can`t believe how well it`s turned out and I really enjoy working under Allan Johnston and Sandy Clark.

"We have a great squad of players and some of the youngsters have impressed me greatly.

"Lads like Danny Carmichael, Gavin Reilly, Kevin Holt, Steven Black and not forgetting our leading marksman Nicky Clark who`s already 17 strikes to his credit.

"When we`re top of the table every side is trying to `knock us off our perch`, so we must stay totally focussed on the task in hand and take one match at a time.

"We did lose 1-0 at Alloa just recently but that`s been our only league defeat to date!

"But we hit back with a 1-0 home win over Brechin on Saturday to regain our nine point advantage at the top.

"I always knew it would be hard against Brechin as they have loads of experience in their ranks.

"But we `ground out` a result and that`s what it`s all about.

"Following Saturday`s match we headed south to Newcastle for a wee pre-Christmas celebration as we have a `free-week` coming up.

"It was a good `bonding session and we all had a good time.

"To end with, I`d just like to offer the compliments of the season to all Queens` fans who have supported us throughout. So long may our stay at the top continue".
