Point is fair for Baird

Nov 17 2014 9:30

John Baird felt Queens fully deserved a point from Saturday’s game with Hibs.

Queens travelled to Easter Road and a goalless draw extended Queens unbeaten run to five games and maintained third place in the Championship.

The striker feels the Edinburgh side have improved but insists Queens are in a good place for the play-offs.

He said: “Hibs had a lot of the possession but you’ve got to expect that coming to their ground but I think we were worthy of the point – they didn’t create much.

“Hibs have massively improved from the team that we beat at Palmerston, I unfortunately missed that game but they’re definitely a better team now.

“But if you look to before the game today, we’ve scored more goals than Hibs and conceded less. People never gave us a chance but we’re three points clear and we’ve played them twice.

“The play-offs were the aim at the start of the season and it’s a big ask, given the clubs in the league but we’ve got to aim for it.”

Baird will face former club Raith Rovers in Queens’ next match this Saturday at Palmerston Park. Kick-off is 5:30pm due to the game being live on BBC Alba.
