QOS U15s Whites took on Dean Thistle at the Northwest Community Campus on Saturday and once again there was strong support who were treated to a great display from their team.
Right from the kick off Queens applied pressure, and Thistle struggled to cope with the intensity and variety of the attacks. By half time, Queens were in complete control with a 6-0 lead thanks to a first half hat trick for Abbie Gray, two goals from Grace Gilmour & a goal from Ellis McMillan.
In the second half the coaches made changes to the line up to give more game time to players needing match practice and to ease a number of players back from injury. The second half could have been a non-event, but the girls maintained the high intensity and further goals came from Julia Liszewska (4), Grace Gilmour (1, completing her hat trick) and Ellie Hyslop made it 12-0 to Queens.
The girls are now up to third place in the table, not far behind the Queens U15 Blues. Player of the match went to Abbie who had one of her best performances of the season. Next game: East Kilbride away.
Meanwhile, the Under 13 girls, had an away league fixture against Glasgow Girls.
The first half was a very close affair with both sides creating chances and enjoying spells of possession. Just before half time Queens opened the scoring when Teri's accurate through pass led to Eve shooting home.
Glasgow Girls started the second half strongly, looking for a quick equaliser, but Skye and Rose in defence and goalie Izzy kept them at bay. With 39 minutes gone, Teri doubled Queens' lead with a net bursting shot from close range. Only a minute later Rebecca came on as a sub and made an instant impact, prodding the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0. With full time approaching, Rebecca won a free kick when a clumsy tackle sent her flying. Rebecca took the free kick herself and finished off a fine team performance by scoring with a low drive to make the full time score 4-0 to Queens.
