Match Preview v Morton

Feb 28 2020 15:00

As we embark on a tough schedule with the first of five games in just 14 days, we have a home game in the Championship tomorrow as we welcome Morton to Palmerston.

In the three league and cup matches that we have faced each other so far this season, we have won one and drawn two. Our last meeting was earlier this month when we played a rearranged game at Cappielow.  Deimantas Petravicius opened the scoring on his debut with Jack Hamilton scoring our second goal, but the hosts twice came from behind to claim a point in a 2 – 2 draw.

Manager Allan Johnston “It was another disappointing result for us last week losing to Dundee. It wasn't a classic game to watch but I don't think there was much between the teams.  In this league you can't afford to switch off or you will be punished and that's what happened to us. We should've cut out the cross in the first place but to leave two players unmarked in the box is criminal from our point of view and we need to stop making the same mistakes to give ourselves a chance of winning games.

There is no getting away from it, we are in a fight and we need to start picking up points.

We want Palmerston to be a difficult place to come, it hasn't been that since the turn of the year so that is something we need to rectify. The fans have been great and have continued to back the team, I can tell you it's appreciated by us all in these difficult times. We believe we have the players who can turn things around. It is only I, the rest of the staff and players who can do it and we do it by continuing to work hard.

This week we welcome another team who sit round about us, so we know how high the stakes are. They picked up another three points during the week with a good win over Ayr, so we need to make sure that gap doesn't become any bigger”.

Supporters attending Palmerston should note:

Pick up should be the same location.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue; this includes e- cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. Any person deemed to be under the influence of alcohol will be denied entry to the ground. This will be strictly enforced.

Recording of match footage is a breach of SPFL rules and anyone found to be doing so will be asked to leave the ground with no refund given.

All spectators are required to abide by our acceptable behaviour policy and your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.  Ground rules are displayed at various points throughout the stadium, at turnstiles and food kiosks.
