Match Preview

We’re back on the road this week as we head north to Gayfield, to take on Dick Campbell’s high-flying Arbroath.

The Red Lichties have had a sensational start to the season by anyone’s standards, albeit it’s more impressive when considering their part-time status. They sit third in the cinch Scottish Championship at the minute, three points off of table-toppers Kilmarnock, as well as boasting the leagues best goal-difference. Former Queens man Nicky Low won’t play a part in Saturday’s game as he recovers from injury.

We last travelled to Gayfield in March where we fell 2-0 down within just 22 minutes through Jack Hamilton and a Michael McKenna penalty. But by half-time we were in the lead as Ayo Obileye, James Maxwell and Dapo Mebude all found the back of the net. Obileye bagged his second goal five minutes after the break and it finished 4-2 to the Doonhamers.

However, from the starting eleven that day only two remain Doonhamers, the skipper Wullie Gibson and Euan East, albeit Niyah Joseph, Aidan Fitzpatrick, Calvin McGrory and Josh Rae were all unused subs.

This seasons earlier meeting at Palmerston finished in another away victory. Tam O’Brien gave the visitors the lead before David Gold saw red, although Joel Nouble struck with ten minutes remaining to make it 2-0 to the hosts.

After a solid performance last time out the boys will be looking to build on that with hopefully a win up in Arbroath.
