Potts Cup Win for Reserves

QoS welcomed Newton Stewart to Palmerston in the 1st round of the South of Scotland Potts Cup this evening, It was the visitors who started the sharper and rook the lead with a near post header from a corner early on. The Galloway side were posing a real threat to the young Queens side at set pieces and Charlie Cowie had to produce a smart save to deny them a second but Queens then equalised though Dom McMahon who slid in to meet a fine Henderson cross. The roles were reversed soon after when McMahon crossed for Henderson to head Queens in front. It was 2-1 at the break.

The second half saw Queens up the intensity and use width on both sides to create chance after chance. In a fairly relentless display of attacking, further goals came from Shaw, Naylor (2), Gibson and both McMahon and Henderson grabbing their own second goals to leave the final score QoS 8-1 Newton Stewart.

Manager Wullie Gibson said, "It was a really impressive team performance with some very good individual ones too. I thought Dom and Hendo in particular were outstanding. Some of the play and the goals we scored were really pleasing and hopefully the boys can take confidence from that".

QoS would like to wish Newton Stewart the best for the rest of the season.
