Match Preview v Cove Rangers

We have a break from the league this weekend as we get our Scottish Cup campaign underway with a third round tie away at Cove Rangers.

There has only been one previous competitive meeting between the teams, that came on the 9th December 1989. It was again in the Scottish Cup with Queens winning the first round tie by two goals to one.

The hosts who celebrate their centenary next year played in the Highland league until they became a league two side in 2018/2019. Winning promotion at their first attempt they now compete in League one and currently sit top of the table.

Looking ahead to the game, Manager Allan Johnston said “We all know the last game against Inverness was nowhere near good enough and we are looking for a big improvement.

We have a break from the league this weekend as we start our cup campaign. No matter who you play there are no easy games. Cove are a league below but are top of the table and are playing with confidence. We are going there aiming to rebuild our own confidence by getting a positive result and securing a place in the next round”.
