Match Preview v Hamilton (H) - 2nd Jan

We kick of 2022 with a home game and the visit of Hamilton Academicals. This will be our third meeting of the season and so far, Accies have the upper hand, with two wins from two.

In our last game at Palmerston at the end of August, Andy Ryan opened the scoring seconds into the second half with Ruari Paton equalising only for Lewis Smith to score the winner 16 minutes from time. Andy Ryan scored the only goal of the game with 15 minutes remaining during our visit to Hamilton in October.

We were both without a game in midweek due to Covid issues.

Looking ahead to Sunday, Manager Allan Johnston said “Firstly, I hope you and your family have had an enjoyable festive season and on behalf of the staff and players I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year.

The past few weeks have been difficult for us due to Covid and injuries. With the number of players missing we simply couldn’t have played so we are grateful that the SPFL allowed us to postpone the games against Morton and Raith.

It hasn’t been ideal preparation for our first game of 2022 against a Hamilton team who are in a similar position to us but given our league positions we know just how important a win would be.

We are unbeaten in our last three league games with a win and two draws. So, we will go into the game looking to build on our impressive victory over Ayr. The boys probably gave their best performance of the season and we are looking for more of the same”.
