UWS Partnership

Following our first TikTok video, it is now time to announce our latest partnership. Over the last couple of months the club has been working hard to form a relationship with the University of the West of Scotland. At the club we believe that giving young people a chance to develop skills in a fast paced and work related environment will offer them key skills in their career development. Therefore we are pleased to announce we have three 3rd year sports journalism students coming on board. This to focus on key areas such as social media enagagement and content, match reporting as well as a number of other avenues.

Commercial Manager, Dan Armstrong, said " This partnership is another positive for the club, UWS and the students. It allows for real experience in the football industry whilst allowing the students to build their knowledge and a portfolio of content that fans can enjoy, as I hope the recent TikTok video demonstrated. We would like to thank the UWS for their co-operation and we have seen in the past the benefit of working within the football industry off the field with Queen of the South as our last five Journalism students are now working full time in their desired field, most recently Finlay Jack who left us a couple of weeks ago. Allowing young people a platform to learn and express their talent is what we believe in at the football club and long may we offer opportunity to young people going forward in a number of areas."

Joe McDermott, 3rd year Student at UWS, said " I've played football and followed football all my life, so the opportunity to work closely with a side like Queen of the South is a huge honour. I have to say usually I brandish my Buckie Thistle scarf. However there is a good chance I will be getting a blue and white Queens scarf to add to the collection. I am incredibly excited for this opportunity and working with the club and can't wait to take our media output to the next level in terms of inside training content.'

Ross Gordon, another 3rd year student, said ' I am an enthusiastic sports and multimedia journalist who is keen to go further in the sport sector. This project is exciting and I believe we can take it very far in our output and engage across the social platforms.'
