We are into the final quarter of the league campaign now with nine games left. Tomorrow we welcome Raith Rovers to Palmerston for our latest cinch Championship match.
It will be the last league meeting between the two sides, but we will meet again next month in the final of the SPFL Trust Trophy. The three games so far this campaign have been close encounters with a 1 – 0 victory for us and two draws.
In the first meeting in Kirkcaldy back in September, Lee Connelly scored the only goal of the game to earn us three points. While in November, after a goal-less first half, Aidan Connolly scored to cancel out Max Johnston’s opener to secure a point for Raith on their visit to Palmerston.
We were due to meet in Fife during the festive period but that was postponed due to Covid. When we did play each other in February we again shared the points in a six-goal thriller. Dario Zanatta and Aidan Connolly had Raith two goals up within 13 minutes, but we fought back to draw level through Ben Liddle and Alex Cooper, only for substitute Matej Poplatnick to restore the hosts lead seven minutes from time. Again, coming from behind, Shea Gordon scored a screamer two minutes later to rescue a point.
Looking ahead to the game tomorrow, Manager, Wullie Gibson said “We suffered our first defeat since I took charge on Tuesday losing our game in hand up at Partick. I still think we did enough in the game to merit a point, but it wasn’t to be. It was a knock for us, but we go again and continue our fight to remain in the Championship. The boys have reacted well in training, so they need to take that out onto the pitch on Saturday against Raith.
They will be hurting after a sore defeat against Ayr last week, so we have to make sure we keep up our momentum and go again to pick up the points we need and want.
Thanks again for your continued support #inittogether”.

It is still compulsory for people to wear facing coverings in enclosed spaces in Scotland, therefore all fans must wear face coverings in enclosed areas such as concourse areas and toilets. If you don’t have a mask, then you will be denied entry to these areas. If you are exempt from wearing a mask you must provide proof of exemption. It is not a requirement to wear a mask whilst in the open, but we recommend you do.
Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.
As far as we are aware there are no ongoing roadworks currently around Dumfries that may affect travel times to Palmerston Park. Fans should check the Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any delays.
The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Alpha Solway stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match.
QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.
Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.
For those who are not able to attend the match in person we are still offering a live stream of the game on QOSTV.
