Community Fridge OPEN

As we continue to integrate the club within the community, we are proud that the QOS Community Fridge is now up and running. Located in the car park next to the main stand, our own “supermarket” is available for anyone within the region to pop in to pick up provisions free of charge.

Community manager, Dan Armstrong said “Our community fridge or food hub is something we have been planning for some time now. But like everyone we understand that the country is in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, and it is something that is probably needed now more than ever. For several years we have been running our Breakfast Club at the Northwest Community campus so we can see from that, that families within our region are struggling. The Breakfast club helps many but no where near enough so hopefully this opens it out to everyone to ensure they have access to food and other essentials. We need to erase the stigma of foodbanks and hopefully this being part of the club goes a long way to doing that”.

The facility is currently open three days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 6 and 8 pm.

Three of the volunteers who help run the hub, Zahra, Kelsey and Jasmine added “We as a team are really pleased to be involved with the Community Fridge. It’s really difficult times for everyone and no one should have to live in fear of how they can eat or worry about other essentials. It’s important for the area to have a facility such as this. If we can help just one person or a family then it’s worth it. We are going to hold an open day on Saturday ahead of the game so that people can pop in and meet us to see what it’s all about. It’s not only about being able to pick up things you need, but we are also here for people to pop in for a chat as every little helps to keep the community together”.
