Match Preview v FC Edinburgh - 22nd Sept 22

Tomorrow we welcome FC Edinburgh back to Palmerston. After making their first ever visit on Saturday they are back for the second time in the space of a week, this time for a cup game as we face each other in the third round of the SPFL Trust Trophy.

The cup tie comes on the back of our 4 – 1 victory in the league at the weekend when Ruari Paton’s double along with goals from Ewan Bange and Euan East saw us claim the 3 points.

Looking ahead to our Thursday night game under the floodlights, Manager Wullie Gibson said “It wasn’t the complete performance on Saturday as there are still a few things that we can tidy up, but it was an improvement and more like what we are looking for. We dominated for long spells and made it hard for FC Edinburgh. A home win has been long overdue so to get it by scoring four goals and playing the way we did is pleasing. However, we need to back it up by putting together a run of good performances and results.

They might change things around as might we, but the objective will be the same and that is to win. It’s at home again and I want to be successful and let people know that coming to Palmerston isn’t going to be easy, we’re not going to be a soft touch.

The message will be to go out and put in the same work ethic as Saturday and get us through to the next round. We got to the final of this cup last season, so we want to try to do the same again.

Thanks again for your support”.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters’ buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.

As far as we are aware there are no ongoing roadworks currently around Dumfries that may affect travel times to Palmerston Park. Fans should check the Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspxfor confirmation of any delays.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Alpha Solway stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match.

QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland which may result in a custodial sentence. Not only is it against the law, but it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open prior to kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise.  Also our new Community Fridge located in the car park next to the Alpha Solway stand will also be open.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 7.45pm.
